--- Ran this 1:32 faster than the last time (and first time) on Feb. 11. Felt really good with not much exertion. My heart rate monitor started to go a little wonky in the last mile. I did not have a max of 204 and wasn't in the 180s at parts like it said on the downhill finish. ---

Got up and out a little later than I wanted to but I was damn tired. And this probably allowed me to wear a short-sleeved shirt like I like to instead of a long-sleeved shirt. Had an OK stretch after doing about 20 minutes of work stuff first. Would be running the 3.02-mile Walkie Talkie loop for the second time. I did not look at my time from the previous time ahead of time. Synced up quickly with China and I was off.

Started off and felt pretty good. Wasn’t worried about time and didn’t remember my last time anyway so it wouldn’t really matter. Was out quick the first 0.13 or so but settled into 2:10 at 0.25 and about 4:22 at 0.50. The first mile is a gradual uphill so I really didn’t know if that was good or not. Made the right on La Mesa Blvd. Got stuck at a light at 0.92 miles on Normal, but it was for only three seconds before I darted across a gap in traffic. Got up the hill for a first mile of 8:58, which I was surprised it was that fast (8:26 adjusted). Knew that the toughest part of the loop was over.

Took the left on Acacia for the snake part. Felt good through that stretch and better when I took the left on Allison past the fire station. Still felt good on the snake part back, taking the right on La Mesa Blvd. Hit the 2-mile mark in 17:28 following an 8:30 (8:28 adjusted). Figured in my head that an 8:00 third mile would put me at 8:30ish pace for the loop, but knew I wouldn’t be able to run that unless I pushed it.

Changed my Garmin to my heart rate toward the bottom of La Mesa Blvd. before turning left on University and saw 177. No damn way. Kept it there for a bit more and it even went up to 185 and eventually 204. Kept trying to fix it thinking maybe it wasn’t getting a good connection but then just stopped caring. Went back to the Garmin and I was in 7:40 range and stayed that way for most of the way back home. Got through the stoplights without any issue, dodging a few cars while running behind them as they creeped out into the intersection. Kept the pace pretty even the rest of the way, running the final 1.02 miles in 8:00 (7:51 pace).

Ended up running the 3.02 miles today in 25:28 (8:26 pace), 1:32 faster than the last time (and first time) on Feb. 11. Felt really good with not much exertion. Happy with another good run. Need to get up and run super early tomorrow before likely a 15-to-16-hour work day. Walked to the next driveway and back, while recovering. Seemed to recover quickly though.
