Ran a little later than I planned to and it was a bit chilly out but I got it in. Had an OK stretch and was semi-hydrated. Planned running the 3.73-mile Other Side loop, which is basically uphill the first 1.1 miles and the last 0.50 miles or so. Not a lot of flat parts on it. I knew it would be a little challenging with it being dark out, especially on 70th over the uneven sidewalks. The Garmin synced up with the Chinese balloon as I started when I got the walk sign on the corner of Lowell and University.

Started off fairly quickly. I could tell I was moving so I kept trying to back off. Was not worried about pace at all. In fact, I really only looked at the splits at the mile markers. Got up the hill OK, taking the left on La Mesa Blvd. Wasn’t laboring too much as I hit the first mile in 9:09 (8:40 adjusted).

Got up to El Cajon and was feeling good on that stretch to 70th for the most part. There seemed to be a lot of people out so I would occasionally run out in the road. Just was rolling along without looking at my watch. Ran the second mile in 8:44 (8:55 adjusted) so I was at 17:53 at the 2-mile mark. Figured that I would be under 9:00 pace then as the last mile was a bit net downhill.

Made the left on 70th. Got past the uneven sidewalks. This went by pretty fast for me as before I knew it I was passing Stanford and on the downhill at the end. Hit the 3-mile mark in 26:29 following an 8:37 (8:49 adjusted).

Thought about crossing University right away with a green light but instead I went down about a half block and then crossed behind a bus. Knew this last bit would be a little challenging as it was a gradual uphill to finish. This went by fairly fast as well. I sprinted across Massachusetts after getting a green light and also crossed Yale without an issue. Ran the final 0.72 miles today in 6:28 (8:59 pace).

Altogether it was 3.72 miles in 32:57 (8:52 pace). Out of the 18 times I’ve run this, it was my sixth slowest. Still it was my longest run of the year and I didn’t dry-heave. Looking forward to a short recovery run in the morning.
