--- Appears to be my coldest run in San Diego County based on my normal Wunderground check (36 degrees at start, 37 at finish). I’ll take this since I’ve been battling a cold. Had some fake dry-heaves today because of all the mucus but really only counting the massive one at 1.64 miles (usual three in succession). Had a great stretch last night which I think helped today as my legs/back felt much better. Got slighted roughly 0.02 miles, which I noticed at my usual 0.25-mile mark. ---

Mile splits: 9:08, 9:05 (18:13) and 4:11 (22:24) last 0.48 miles (8:43 pace)

Adjusted splits: 8:55, 9:01 and 8:53 pace last 0.47 miles

Had a decent run today. Had a good stretch last night since my legs were trashy all day. Stretched out my back a little bit too. The stretch helped today’s run. Had a decent stretch this morning with just a little water. Was dreading the cold and that I’m sick (mucus and coughing), knowing that a dry-heave was more likely. Planned on running the 1.47-mile Pedofile Adjace loop and the 1.04-mile Parks for about 1.51 miles today. Synched the Garmin up with China and was ready to go.

Felt pretty good early on. It was cold and I was happy with my wardrobe choice of a long-sleeve dry-fit shirt, shorts and stretchy gloves. Got to my normal spot on Normal Ave. which is usually 0.23 miles, but today was 0.21. It seemed about that much off the rest of the run. Hit 2:15 at 0.25 miles (4:30 pace), but probably more like 0.27. Managed the tough little stretch on Normal Ave., taking the right on Parks and hitting 0.50 at 4:38 (9:16 pace). Confirmed I was slighted there as well. Turned left to tackle the LMAAC hill, which wasn’t as daunting as it used to be. However I was hurting when I got to the top as I coasted to the slighted 0.75-mile split of 7:02 (9:23 pace). Started to pick it up on the long downhill on Dale Ave., feeling pretty good. Hit the slighted mile mark in 9:09. Was trying to push some snot out the nostrils and dry-heaved, but not counting it because I think it was more of a snot thing. Took a left on University Ave. still feeling good. Slowed down a little late on the loop, running the slighted 1.44 miles in 13:01 (9:03 pace) (it’s usually 1.46-1.47).

Figured I was about 60 percent done there. Was feeling good on Lowell until I dry-heaved out of nowhere at 1.64 miles (usual three times). Made the left on Normal and that was a drag. Just kept telling myself to get to the school and it would be downhill and/or flat the rest of the way. Made it through there, then left on Normal across the school and really feeling it. Dogged it across the 2-mile split of 18:13 following a 9:05 split. Started to pick it up on University. Really stretched it out and held through until the last few steps, hitting the first mile of the second loop in 9:01 and finishing the 1.04 in 9:23 (9:02 pace).

Altogether it was 2.48 miles in 22:24 (9:03 pace). Feel like I got slighted at least 0.02 and more normally 0.03, but that’s OK. Sometimes I get lucky too. It ended up being my coldest run in San Diego County (36 degrees when I started, 37 when I finished) based on Wunderground (Klimat (45) and Strava (39) had warmer temperatures). Happy to get this in while sick.
