--- Ouch. Tough loop for me right now, but that hurt. Legs didn’t feel good even after a planned day off and breathing was heavy. So was my body. Tough week of work, too, which won’t let up until Saturday night. Need to just keep working runs in. ---

Was so tired when I woke up after a long day/night at work. Really just wanted to sleep for another hour or so. No motivation but I somehow went, even though it was later than I wanted to. Did a quick stretch and got suited up. Would be running Massachusetts, which would be a tough loop for me right now, and some short, flat add-ons. Would not be worried about time.

Was sluggish early on. Came up to the baseball fields and there were some kids running around the dirt loops I usually do much faster than me. I was at 9:00 pace then so I picked it up a little bit heading into the first hill. The little one was not quite as bad as normal for me as I recovered fine for the next flat part, which seemed longer than normal. Just told myself to get to the top and the hardest part would be done. A car let me cross on the top and I jogged the start of the downhill, hitting my normal splits of 0.67 in 5:57 (8:53 pace) and 0.75 in 6:41 (8:55 pace). Started to feel good on the downhill (no shit). Waved to the old man walking up the sidewalk as I slid out to the road. Took the right on Waite Drive and hit the first mile split of 8:34 (8:13 adjusted). Wow. That was much faster than I thought it was going to be. Struggled on that part until taking the right on Massachusetts. That stretch there was just kind of bleh and I don’t remember much. Was happy to get to the top and actually didn’t see my dog friend Cujo barking at me up that. Maybe (hopefully) he died? Was happy to get to the top around 1.61 miles. Dogged it a little bit at the start of the downhill then picked it up toward the bottom. Took the right on University. The Garmin reminded me of the 2-mile split in 17:05 following an 8:32 (8:29 adjusted). Just barely faster than the first mile, there’s usually more of a difference. I struggled the rest of the loop, especially on the last stretch past Yale. Ran the final 0.27 miles in 2:28 (9:10 pace) and the 2.27-mile Massachusetts in 19:34 (8:37 pace).

The struggle continued on my way out to Normal (0.23 miles in 1:59 (8:37 pace). Turned around the picked it up slightly but still didn’t feel good. Thought that a dry-heave was coming but it didn’t. Ran the 0.23 miles back in 1:55 (8:22 pace) and the 0.46 miles overall in 3:54 (8:29 pace).

Then ran out to the home plate and back of the softball field, running the 0.14 miles in 1:13 (8:45 pace).

Altogether it was 2.87 miles in 24:41 (8:37 pace). Walked to the next driveway and back trying to recover. Planning on running a short, slow, flat run tomorrow but still trying to figure out when.
