--- Couldn’t quite get it down to recovery pace, but this was pretty damn easy. Five flat laps in the dark. ---
Mile splits: 9:08, 9:17 (18:25) and 1:57 (9:45 pace) last 0.20 miles (20:22)
Adjusted splits: 9:06, 9:16 and 9:20 pace last 0.20 miles
Tonight was a surprisingly good run. Had an early work function so punted this run until late. Wanted a recovery run after yesterday’s short one. Planned on running five laps around Highlander Way unless the homeless guy was camped out. Then I would adjust. Had an OK stretch. Was already sweating from the humidity although Wunderground only had it in the low 70s. Walked outside to alert China and to the starting point of this loop. No homeless guy that I would see so I was off.
Got out a little quick I think because it was pretty dark out. Was around 2:08 at 0.25 miles and the heart rate was already at about 155. Just couldn’t quite get to recovery pace, which I deemed 9:45 pace or so. Legs felt good though. Eventually slowed down around 0.60 miles or so after being at 4:24 (8:48 pace) at 0.50 miles. Got through the five laps without any real issues, going 3:52, 4:08, 4:07, 4:06 and 4:09. I think I got a little bump each lap as they were 0.44 miles and usually are 0.43. Maybe I was running a bit closer to the middle of the road on Highlander Way, but it ended up being 2.20 miles in 20:22 (9:16 pace). Happy to still have my heart rate at 157 with a 9:16 pace. Pretty damn easy overall. Looking forward to another run in the morning.
