Decided on a new loop the night before. Basically just the flattest parts around my house with no puddle issues. It was nothing fancy, but flat and I could make it as long as I needed. Today the plan was 2.50 miles. Moved up the run to the morning after initially planning on running after work later in the day but fell asleep semi-early last night so wanted to get it over with. Had a decent stretch. Wanted RFD (recovery, flat and dry), hopefully keeping my heart rate in the low 140s, at least under 145.

Started out and my legs were kind of tired. Just kept it easy throughout. Was alternating between distance (to map some possible add-ons later) and heart rate (trying to keep it 145). Once I saw Highlander Way was dry, I changed my loop a little bit. Breathing was under control and my legs felt a little better as the run went on. Annoying blister on the bottom of my left foot was noticeable but that’s it. It started in yesterday’s wet 4.03-miler. One full loop (which I’m calling Tiptoe) was roughly 1.38 miles, but I ran this so I can get exact amounts of what I want to do. Whether it’s just running the loops and stopping at my start and end points, or turning around and coming back at different times. It’s 0.46+ to get from my normal starting point on my side of Lowell to the other sign on the other side, and then 0.45 from there, west on University to Highlander Way and back to the start on the other side. Slowed down a lot, going 9:36, 9:57 and 10:05 pace for the last 0.51 miles. Altogether it was 2.51 miles in 24:41 (9:51 pace) with my average heart rate at 145 (max of 152). Maybe not quite as low as I wanted my AHR but pretty close.
