Notes

Many factors made this one brutal. Battling a cold that I started feeling in the throat and sinuses since Fri night; I hurt my back again yesterday evening picking up the air compressor in the garage, although that was fine during the run; Another super-humid (foggy) and warm morning; Been up since 2:00 AM for some reason. I took a decongestant/allergy medicine around 5:15, then I took some Advil for the back around 5:45; Had some tea and headed out the door at 6:30 to meet up with Henz and Tom. I didn't even get out of the neighborhood when I suddenly felt nauseous. I pulled the car over and vomited out the door 3 or 4 times - all liquid. Sipped on water the rest of the drive to rehydrate. Stomach felt fine by the time we started the run.

The first hour was fine. We kept the pace easy and talked the whole way. I had a moment where I felt some painful scratching in my right knee, but it didn't last long. Back of the knee area felt tight at times.

We got a quick drink around 45 minutes. Got back to the cars at nearly an hour. Quick pee, grabbed my water bottle and headed out for the second hour alone. Around 1:20 it started getting harder. The last 30 minutes was brutal. I was feeling exhausted, dehydrated, heavy legs, very dizzy, getting out of breath and hyperventilating, and my pace was slowing with each mile. I stopped at 1:48 where I had stashed the remainder of my water bottle. I took time to drink the rest and tried to catch my breath, but I couldn't stop hyperventilating. At this point, it was only about a mile back to the car.

After a few minutes rest, I started back up to finish out this run, but it was very difficult getting moving. There was a little parking area with a water fountain just over 1/4 mile from the car. I stopped there to take a big drink and rest some more. Feeling very dizzy and exhausted at this point. Tried to finish out the last little part, but my stomach was not happy, especially now with all the water sloshing around. Ended up walking the remainder back.

Not the end of the world - just a bad long run experience.
