Naperville Marathon, my 14th. Ran better than I thought I would. Still, my second slowest road marathon.

Felt smooth and easy through 17. The next couple miles was up some tough hills going east on Chicago. It got a little harder with each mile after that until the last two miles. Then things got bad, and then it got ugly, and then they put me in an ambulance and took me to the hospital for a few hours until I warmed up and regained my senses.

I planned to run the first 10 at 7:20 pace, but anything slower than 7:00 felt like plodding, so I just went with it. That worked fine until the last two miles.

Fun being on the start line with John, Jims, BS and Mike. The course was great the first half. It took on a completely different feel the second half with all the hills and turns. The wether was a little windy but otherwise great. Saw Kelly, the kids, my mom, sister and grandma about 6 times. They were handing me water and changes of gloves and head gear. Very helpful having a support crew out there. It's too bad I put them through all the post-race drama.
