What a great Thanksgiving! I got 2 or 3 PRs out of this race. The overall time was about 17 seconds PR (18 if I go by my watch - whatever). Assuming the first mile marker was correct, my 4:53 was a 9 second PR. The second mile marker was off, but if I just take my overall pace, that would be a 10:10. I don't know what my previous 2 mile best was, but definitely not that fast.

I went out strong and it just felt easy and smooth. I probably went out too strong for my average pace to be so much higher. I still felt pretty good at 2 miles but my breathing was getting harder and the legs a little tighter. At that point I was confident in getting a PR if I could just hold on and not die. Shortly after 2 miles it started to hurt. The legs were getting real tight and I was starting to feel very tired. Just hold on, I kept thinking. I saw Ray at 2.5 and Henz and BS around 2-3/4. It really helped keep me focused and motivated having these guys out there. I know Mahaeish was there too, just not sure exactly where. (Thank you guys for coming out)

As we turned down the final log stretch I was really starting to feel it but tried to stay with a few guys around me. They pulled away but I don't think I faded too bad. I was giving it everything I had while the legs weere screaming and the lungs burning up. I started to get dizzy around the 3 mile mark and didn't even attempt to get that split. From there I was just going all out trying to get in as fast as I could. The finish line was a big blur. I crossed the line and collapsed a few steps after. I was completely trashed.

I saw Dan Shaffer, Henz, BS, Shaffron and some NCC guys but couldn't talk well. It took a while to recover my senses and finally talk to everyone. Actually, it was a great pain, the satisfying kind that comes with knowing you gave it everything you had.

Congrats to all the RunningAhead runners in the race and thanks again to the guys that came out to cheer.

I worked up a great appetite and now I get to feast with the family. Great day!
