Notes

A big part of the Boston cycle is going to be strength. And strength in a different way than I normally mean it. Andrea Sorgato has a phrase that I mention too often: it's no use having a Ferrari engine if you have a Fiat frame. So I am endeavouring to get rid of my Fiat frame. He normally trots out this saying when I'm on his massage table and he's also saying things like: but... do you do anything at all for your legs?

So I've started the basics, which are ankle weights and body-weight exercises a couple times a week and a regional circuit that I'll do after workouts when I can. We'll see. One thing that's definitely true. At 38 years-old, with the years of aerobic running piling up, it's wonderful to have such a glaring weakness to work on.

This was also likely an elevation gain PR. 1550 feet according to Strava. I ran twice up Eastern Ave and twice up Gray St. If I had to choose, I prefer Gray St. It's longer than Eastern Ave., but it rolls ever so slightly so you grind up and then you get a chance to open back up and then grind some more. Eastern Ave. is just about getting one foot in front of the other for the whole mile to the top. I also ran down Gray St. twice which is an important part of this run. Boston cycles are quad cycles.
