NCR Trail

Notes

5:00/1:30 intervals the first 14 miles

1:00/1:00 intervals the next 3 miles

Intermittent running/walking after that.

Overall: 7

Enjoyment: 6 - It was great, the first 14 miles, then I bonked.

Experience: 6 - hot day out!! Too hot for such a long run.

Effort: 9 - I did great the first 14 miles, then bonked down the next 3. After that, it was just surviving. Needless to say, there was a TON of walking those last three miles.

Pain: 5 - First off, was the shits at mile 7. I had to hold it until mile 9.5 when I reach Monkton Station. After that, I was pretty good until mile 14. I took a decent rest/snack break. Then mile 15.5, another (longer rest). My legs were week and starting to go. After the rest, I survived another couple of miles, before fully giving out. The last three miles was more or less a walk.

This was my last long run before the marathon, and I'm not happy with how it turned out. I ran the first 14 miles faster than I intended, and between that and the rising heat (94F when I finished), my body was spent. For now, I'm switching to short hill workouts. I need to rethink my interval strategy for race day, though.
