haven't felt this good running at home in years... got attacked by a fierce, flash thunderstorm. ran the final mile HARD after i nearly pissed myself when a shock of lightening landed close enough to feel it and loud enough to rock my eardrums. wasn't expecting any storms until later tonight, closer to 9pm... anyway, screwed up the watch, so probably closer to 6.2 or 6.3 for the old "around the block" neighborhood loop through scroggsfield. enjoyed the views and noticed a lot of big birds flying around. cool. walk around the yard in the rain (HARD rain) for a few minutes after i got back...

we survived the long drive yesterday (12 & 1/2 hours total, less than 10 hours driving, just a tad over 700 miles). the boys were great. barely fussed the entire time. took a few short break on the road, then a brief stop in meadville to say a quick hello to gypsy davey (discovered he just had a kid!). left at 3:45AM, arrived around 4:30PM.

good to be home. it's been nearly two years since i was here last... went into carrollton to see my grandfather and step grandmom at the county nursing home. had a good talk with both of them in a pretty little courtyard at the home. mom had to take us to tractor supply to buy the boys john deere t-shirts and let them pick out a toy farm animal... they both requested buffalo cause we stop at the "high hopes bison farm" on the way there. Andrew was very impressed with the buffalo, especially when one of them took a massive dump in front of him... town looks a little different with all the frackers and lots of new businesses. the amish have multiplied in mechanicstown. guess that's not a bad thing. took the boys around the farm with mom picking berries for a while in the afternoon.
