I honestly don't really know what to say about this one. The race went out really fast, with the leaders coming through in like 68ish through 400. I was well in the back for the first mile, but worked my way through the crowd and went through in a 4:44. Kind of hung back in the pack for the next bit and made a couple moves until 4ish of us separated a bit. Hit the 2 mile in 9:32(PR) feeling pretty good and confident we could go under. I moved to the lead with 3 laps to go, but some kid came around me pretty quick and slowed it back down. I got pretty pissed and yelled at him to get the fuck out of the way if he was gonna try to pull that. After that nonsense, I just tried to stay on the Texas Tech guys and they led us into the bell lap at 13:48 I believe, Hit 200 to go and that's where I really made my move. Went balls deep and threw down a 32 last 200 to close it out for the win and 20 second PR. It was a pretty unreal moment when I crossed the line, with so much emotion, lactate, and feeling like I was going to puke.

Damn. I just gotta say, when you totally dedicate your life to something and set a goal you never really thought you could reach and you go out there and do it, it's a pretty raw feeling. Brought me to tears when I was walking away from the track. That along with being a 15:50 guy last year with thoughts of quitting the sport entirely. Pretty crazy to see it come together. That being said, I'm gonna enjoy this one, but at the same time I'm ready for the next goal along with the rollercoaster ride it'll take me on.

A wise coach once told me, "Running is 99% heartbreak and 1% satisfaction, live for those moments of satisfaction."

There's something special in this sport that not many people get the chance to feel, but once you do, there's rarely anything anyone can do to stop you from trying to feel it again, no matter the path. Congrats man.

Absolutely. Always in pursuit of that feeling
