based on the week leading up to the Charlevoix marathon, my plan was to run 2 easy miles and then (6) .1 mile springs w/ a .1 mile slow jog in between. Then after yesterdays awful run and my ankle hurting so bad, I was hoping to be able to run 1 easy mile and then 3 miles at Marathon Pace (8:20-8:30) and then 1 easy mile...to see if the stretches and the tape and the chiro helped.

I started having the ankle pain a mile or so in, although not as intense as yesterday, and decided to maybe try the .1 mile sprints to see if that could help loosen my ankle up. It was hurting pretty badly and I prayed that God would make it clear if he didn't want me to run the marathon. I did 3 .1 mile sprints and then decided to do a .5 mile at an increased pace and try and couple it with a slower .5 mile to see how I felt and what my mile pace would be. It was still painful, but it was nice to get the slower jog as a rest (this mile ended up being (8:23) so I decided to do 1 more mile this way (ended up being 8:29 pace) and during this mile, I noticed the pain was much less intense. I decided to do my last .4 miles close to Marathon Pace goal (.4 miles in 3:20 is 8:20 pace).

By the end of my run the pain was much less intense and not too hard to deal with and I was somewhat convinced that maybe God does want me to run the marathon. Maybe He wanted me to be willing to not run it so that I wasn't putting running in front of Him???
