watched a video yesterday about engaging my glutes when I run. He said to sprint for a really short distance (to the next mailbox, driveway etc) which will engage the glutes like a sprinter and then when I run the glutes will help with the forward movement and I'll go faster then what I would have and it shouldnt be as taxing on my legs and hips and hamstrings. It certainly seemed to work as I didnt seem to be pushing much except the last mile I pushed a little harder and my hamstrings didnt seem to be as tight when I was done!!!

I ran 8 miles at 8:00 pace and I was trying to run 13.1 miles at 8:00 pace on Saturday and could only do it for a few miles.
