Great Competition and a super fast track makes this race one of the best opportunities to run fast all year. I went for a big 5k time today that I know im capable of and I fell short in the final laps of the race so I'm disappointed. I think If I could have gotten the tactics a little better I would have done better. I got out SUPER well and ended up in the front for the first couple laps of the race. (took it out in 35, 70, right on 14:40s pace). I should have just tucked in a little farther back and been able to relax even more. Regardless of this I held on to the pace for most of the race. first mile was under 443, two miles at 926, I was on pace for 1440 until the last K, although by then I felt like death. grinded it out into the finish and still got 1456, but I know im better than this. still happy with the PR and it was a great trip.
