Notes

Pretty successful day up in the snowy boonies of Michigan. Went into the race knowing my best bet to finish up high to help the team would be to get out hard and grind til I die rather than attempting to build. I was nervous about starting out too slow all week so I got out like a bat outta hell to put myself in a good position. The first K was the worst with all the people falling, I had to be very aggressive with my elbows lol. Kept Lexi and Ellie in my sights and just focused on moving when they did. The footing was awful, the wind was blowing in every direction, but honestly, it was sort of fun to run in conditions like that because it made it feel like an even bigger challenge. My plan was to fly up the little baby hill right at 5k and cruise past people to the end, but instead I got the worst bootylock haha. I heard some guy yell at the girl next to me “you’re number 32” and knew I had to just grind to the finish if I wanted to be an All American. Even though I had my individual goals, my main motivation to finish was to just do it for the team. Cross country is just such a team sport and I know I race my hardest when I’m doing it for my chicks. Overall, pretty satisfied with the race. Team still did great and the mens team did awesome too. Definitely one to remember.
