Really happy with this!! Got out and attached myself to the back of Aubs and Lex after the first lap or so until the Tulsa pack swung wide and flew by us like three laps in. That was strange considering they had planned to go out slower than us, and chapman said we were right on our pace, but maybe that was a lie? Anyway, then there was a lot of jostling for positioning and this one stupid tulsa girl would not let me pass her on the outside or inside! Eventually, Lexi took the lead back and a few tulsa girls went with. I knew I had to respond, so I picked up my stride a bit and attached myself to the back of the front line. Tried to kick it in with the other girls, but still just wasn't quuuuuuite there. It's so annoying how smooth I feel during indoor track 200's but I can't seem to replicate that at the end of the race. Still think it's a bit of a mental thing. I think running the 5k at BU will help with that because none of the other wartburg girls will be in the race and I don't have to subconsciously think about how much better their kicks are. Still a great race though and I'm proud of myself for putting myself in the mix despite having less confidence with the 3k. Possibility of me doubling at natties now too which is kinda cool, although don't know how realistic that really is with how shitty i usually feel after an indoor 5k haha. I feel like my original 3k pr did not really match my 5k or even mile PR, so I'm glad I could finally rip a fast one. If anything, this gave me a lot of confidence to run a 5k because I think I could hold this pace (or close to it) for a 5k. I felt pretty smooth until the last two laps and that's only because I was trying to speed up. I am wayyyy more fit than I usually am at this point in the season so I'm excited to see what I can do end of Feburary/beginning of March!!
