Prescribed was 4 x 10:00 tempo intervals with 2:00 rest

Actual was 3 x 2 mile tempo intervals with 2:00 rest

10:19 (5:10, 5:08), 10:30 (5:15, 5:15), 10:48 (5:20, 5:28)

Well this was a big fat stinker lol. Coach Ives assigned 10:00 intervals, but I thought I would be able to run under 5:10 pace for these so I just made it 2 miles since the extra 20 seconds per rep wouldn't be a big deal. Got out well on the first rep, and while the pace felt manageable I could tell I was working too hard. So decided to dial it back a bit and I thought I'd shoot for 5:15 pace on the last 3 reps and thought that would be more than manageable. Knocked out the second one right on and it didn't feel too bad. But the third rep I just felt shot. My legs had nothing and even though I felt like I was running the same pace I ran too slow the first mile then died horribly on the second. There was no point in running a 4th rep at like 5:30 pace so just ended it after 3.

I don't know what it was that caused me to feel so poor this morning, but it just wasn't my day. It was warm and very humid so I'm sure that had something to do with it, but I thought I hydrated well yesterday and I've run some good workouts in the heat and humidity so far this summer. I'm trying to eat a little less to slim down a bit before the 5k in October so maybe my body hasn't quite adjusted back to running off of the amount I'd eat most of last year. Regardless, just not my day. Will take a couple chill easy days now and hopefully come back with a good LR MP on Saturday
