NIRCA Regionals 8k. Took 2nd to Andreas and the team took the win with only 22 points so that was sweet.
Got out well in the chase pack behind Tyson. Around a mile I was running off the front of the chase pack and I think it was around 1.5 when we caught Tyson. The kid from Wisco kind of make a move by and gapped the Wash U kid and I. Coming up toward the end of the first lap I made a move and went up to join the Wisco kid dropping the Wash U guy. I was content to just sit behind him, it was windy as fuck so I had no interest in setting the pace. We were running really slow it felt like. Around 4k Andreas caught up to us and it was just us 3 for the rest of the race. Up until 6k Andreas and I just sat behind the Wisco kid and continued running what felt like an insanely slow pace. I made a pretty weak move at 6k just to see what those guys had, the move didn't break either of them so I just tucked back in. By 7k I was gapped. Caught back up around 7.2k probably, then got gapped again around 7.4k probably. With a little over 400 to go Andreas dropped the Wisco kid then I caught him and put 10 seconds into him by the finish.
Not my best race, I think I could have stuck with Andreas but our order has no effect on the team score so I didn't really feel the motivation to go for it. At nationals I will definitely need to race with some more balls, which I should be able to do
