Notes

Long with miles 14-17 at GMP, which is 5:15 pace

5:19, 5:13, 5:27, 5:13

Pretty nice morning for this with temps in the 60s and a bit drizzly. Had Kaylee along on the bike and planned to start in WWP and go 10 out and back on the bike trail west. We got a pretty gnarly storm yesterday though and the bike trail had a lot of debris on it as a result. I got to the part of the bike trail where I'd be running hard on the way back and decided it was a little too messy and flipped at 6 to do the hard portion in Waterworks

I was pretty nervous for this one all week given that it was my first time going for GMP this cycle late in a run and on tired legs

The first 13 were pretty uneventful, popped a Maurten gel at 7ish and a gel with caffeine at 11ish just to get something in and was drinking Gatorade Endurance throughout from Kaylee on the bike. The first 13 I was really trying to keep it easy to save energy for the hard part. Started the hard portion and it felt really easy for the first few minutes. I was cruising along right on pace and feeling good. The 2nd half of the first mile things started getting tougher and I really needed to ratchet up the effort, which lasted through the 5:13 2nd mile. Mile 3 though things were touuuuugh. My effort was there and I kept trying to go but the pace was just not coming (looking back, maybe GPS error? idk). I contemplated stopping at 3 but told myself just to get through all 4 and try to maintain the mid 5:20-s for the last mile if thats what it needed to be. But the pace started coming back down in the last mile, I was definitely working hard for it but I was glad to work through the 3rd mile little mental funk and finish strong
