Lol this was weird. According to McMillan calculator, the 'steady' pace for a 2:18:00 is 5:03- 5:19 so my goal here was just to chill at like 5:25- 5:30. I did 35:00 steady at 5:29 two weeks ago so I figured that'd be pretty easy

Got out well the 1st mile and I felt so good and so relaxed. Same on the 2nd and 3rd miles too. Somewhere around the 4th mile though things went from pretty chill and under control to really hard quite fast. It became quite the grind for the last 3+ miles, but I was able to hold things together even though I had to work a lot harder for it than I wanted. I contemplated cutting it short at 35:00, then again contemplated stopping at 7 miles, but very glad I stuck it out and knocked out the full 40. The pace did not feel fast, I just had to push quite hard aerobically I felt like

I thought the weather was pretty nice this morning, but in the 2nd half the sun and humidity that was there was definitely getting to me a bit. I also still might not quite be recovered from the wedding last weekend. Based on how this felt I was just very glad to knock it out and still be faster than I was for the shorter steady state 2 weeks ago
