Notes

Solo LR out on the hilly gravel SW of Booneville. Met with Ellen this week and she thinks drinking more water with my gels is something that will help my stomach feel better with taking in fuel. So planned a gel and water every 4 miles, did a 10 mile out and back route so I could place water at 4 and 8 miles and then those same bottles were able to be used for 12 and 16

Kinda a weird run. It was a lot warmer than it has been lately and pretty windy out of the south too. That strong wind out of the south meant the first 4 miles were straight into it which didn't feel too great. Then had a bit of cross wind before a good tailwind stretch. But the warmer temps meant that the parts where I had a tailwind felt pretty hot. The nature of this route is pretty much 1.5 mile stretches of each tail and head wind with 1.5 miles of cross wind. The cross wind parts were probably the most enjoyable because it wasn't a headwind and it didn't feel warm. Overall this run went well though. Progressed throughout and got rolling pretty well the last 4 miles with the tailwind and downhill. HR was a little higher than I'd have liked but I think the temps approaching 70 towards the end explains that. Overall happy with how it went even though it didn't feel the best

Took a Maurten gel w/ water about 15 minutes before, then a caffeine gel at 4 and 12, and a regular gel at 8 and 16. Gels went down well and took down 4oz of water shortly after each gel. All was good nutrition wise. I never have too much of an issue with nutrition in training though, its taking it at race pace where my stomach sometimes gets iffy. Hopefully emphasizing getting more water down at race pace will make that less of an issue
