Notes

Solid race today in Batavia, weather was around 72 degrees which isn't bad at all but the dew point was 70 so it was a humid one out there that's for fricken sure. Considering the humidity I'm pleased with the race, Right from the start Daniel, Aiden, and I combined with the two New Balance guys and we seperated from the pack. Despite a solld uphill at the beginning we still ran sub 5:20 for the first mile which was stupid. The New Balance guys made another surge shortly after so we let them go and then it was just us 3 for the next few miles. Daniel wasn't feeling so hot early on and Aiden started to feel shitty so I broke away from them both around the 5.5 mile marker and ran the rest of the way by myself. Miles 7-10 were uphill with short parts of flat roads so those parts were pretty tough. Took a GU at mile 8 and that helped a bit. It was around this point that the heat started to get pretty noticeable so I just did my best to try and finish without getting hit with heat stroke lol. Times were much faster last year but the course was short due to construction so overall not a bad showing. I definitely need to get in some more tempo work though, but overall I'm happy with this. Not a PR, but this is the fastest I have ran a half in quite some time so I just gotta keep rolling with it.

Huge shoutout to Kaytlin for pacing my dad and helping him to a massive PR in the half! Congrats on the 1:52 dad!
