Easy run in the evening after a morning tempo session. It think this format may be something to remember for the future. Running my easy run the evening after a tough morning workout served a couple of purposes: 1) Since I was a bit fatigued from the morning session, it made sure that I didn't overdo it on a workout that was meant to be kept in the "easy" pace/effort zone. My average pace was 7:52, and I normally have the propensity to do easy runs a bit faster. As it is, 7:52 is on the fast side for an easy run (as my VDOT easy pace zone is 8:05-8:34. 2) Another benefit is that I've now completed my easy run for the next day, and can now take the day off.

Specifically for this run, I feel that I pushed it a little more than I should have for an easy run. Easy running is meant to feel easy, and I think I was straining a little bit to keep the pace. I need to feel OK about running 8-8:30 pace and really focusing on the purpose of the run being recovery.
