Notes

The run felt surprisingly easy, especially since goal pace was 8:00. I was just cruising at low effort, and ended up running further than I meant to in 25 minutes. This is a good indication that my training is working. I am improving without feeling overtrained (I do not feel in general lethargic, heavy-legged, or unwilling to go on runs). In the coming months, I will be increasing my mileage by 10% per week, to get up to 70-75 miles by 6 months to race day. At that point, I will be using a combination of Jack Daniels' and my own training methods to ready myself for competition.

I do not feel sore today after my race yesterday, which surprises me. Perhaps tomorrow I will feel it more, as I have come to realize over the years that soreness generally sets in, in full force, two days post-workout. However, the arches of my feet are oddly sore, and the site of my old left knee injury maintains a barely noticeable sharp pain. I will continue to monitor it, but do not expect it to become a problem until I increase my mileage further.
