Notes

63 deg with 59 dew point. Felt a little on the warm side, but still decent workout conditions. There was a slight breeze at times which felt pretty good.

Workout: 3 miles warmup, 8x1km starting at 5:10 and working down to sub 5:00 pace with 400m slow jog, 2 miles cooldown.

Prior to the workout I had to calculate the paces to see what the equivalent 1km times I had to hit. After seeing that I should run about 77s laps for 5:10 pace, then I knew I could manage the workout. I felt really good throughout the workout and never had any issues with progressing to sub 5:00 pace.

Splits were 3:11, 3:08, 3:09, 3:07, 3:07, 3:05, 3:05, and 3:01. When I hit 3:07 for the 5th repeat, I was sort of surprised because it felt more like a 3:09. I decided to run strong over the last three repeats. I hit 2:27 for the 800 on the 6th and 7th repeat, and then a 2:25 800 split for the last repeat. I thought to myself "holy crap, that's a great time for 800 repeats alone and I was splitting that as part of the 1k". I still felt like I had some left in the tank after the workout.

Man, that was probably the best and fastest 1K workout I've ever done. I'm feeling really fit and smooth. Can't wait to see what I can do next weekend at the Philly half.
