One of the best long trail runs ever in the history of my runs. I decided to try something new this decade and wore the iPod. I almost felt like it was cheating since it really helped get me going today. A great substitute if no running partner to push you on the trails. I had it on random so didn't know what song would play next. Very eclectic mix - Abba in English and espanol, Village People, Kiss, REM, Garth, Billy, Ray, dulcimer music and more. Temp was 5F at beginning and double digits by end. I ran all over the place. Crossing one of the creeks couldn't find any rocks so took the shortest route over ice and expected it to break and it did. Soaked my left pant leg from the knee down. I had to run with a frozen stiff pant leg the next 13 miles. Got shoes wet a couple times too. I was nice and warm the entire run. Last few miles were tough due the the trail I took, but I made it. This was a good training pace for a trail run if my race goal is sub 9:40. Will definitely use the iPod again. I may be forever ruined. I could still hear the crunching of the snow and if people spoke to me which was nice. I was worried it would drown all the nature sounds out. It was nice and I highly recommend running with music if you can multitask. This was great for people like me with short attention spans that like to multitask. It made the time fly and was very enjoyable, relaxing and FUN! One of the best running partners I have ever had!
