Notes

Papermill Run 5k. Trail run: gravel, with some hills and turns. Very humid weather. Legs felt somewhat heavy and sore on warm up jog. Went out fast. Was able to sustain for a while. Around 14:50 or so for halfway point split. Toward the end of the raise, I just lost it, felt close to bonking. Was on pace for under 30 but had nothing left for finish line sprint or speed up. Just ran in slow. But still came close and lowered time from previous race by 2.5 minutes. Very very good overall.

Notes: Went to bed around 12:30, got up at 7:30 for 10 a.m. start. Had granola cereal with soy milk and drank water. Had a little coffee but did not drink full cup. No alcohol the night before. Had not slept well Thursday night but did well last night. Also worth noting that I ran the day before, which I had not done last time. I thought it would be good to keep me loose. May indeed have helped. However, I noticed soreness of my shins before the race. Because the race was on gravel, it didn't bother me during the race. But I can feel it becoming somewhat sore now. Will need to monitor.

Course notes: Some hills, trail. Very pretty. Out and back so you can gauge where you are on the course pretty well. Did not mark miles, however. Attractive T-shirts. Registered via Active.com. Light snacks afterward.
