Final SE Essex XC. Opted to do this today following discussion with Nick rather than Essex 20 as still recovering from Tarpley 20 last week and my PF has been a bit troublesome during the week,. Weather was really weird - raining when we arrived; very windy; overcast; then the sun came out. Steep downhill to start on mountain bike trails, then onto proper XC. Included water crossing at over knee depth. The hills were serious hills - final hill was a killer and walked at the top as people were walking past me! Got overtaken by 2 women on the final hill unfortunately (one I'd only just overtaken). Actually started to really enjoy it towards the end!
Wore trail shoes (best to wear trail shoes not spikes on this course - long tussocky grass, some tarmac path, some hard packed trail as well as mud and water).
D88s were tied first position coming into this match but we came 4th today with runners out at Essex 20 or injured.
