Mild but chilly wind. After lots of rain in the past few days so the course was properly muddy and wet. Brutal! Very muddy through the forest sections and got worse with each of the 3 laps. The 2nd half of the looped section had lots of deep muddy puddles. 1 in particular was very deep - it had pieces of a wooden fence on one side - I ran that side on lap one and tried the other side on lap 2 & disappeared up to my thigh in muddy water! I stayed on the other again in lap 3!! The hill felt a lot harder this year - felt like I was hardly moving at all at times. I think there were fewer people this year as the race clashed with a Chingford League XC. I was 2nd lady so I'm pleased with that. (1st lady was miles ahead of me). Nice to be part of the D88 team.
