Easy AM run. Six degrees out, but still enjoyable. Only a slight southeast wind to worry about. Footing in the neighborhood is still garbage. The path is mixed. The majority is mostly clear but there are still a lot of slick patches. Downtown is the worst.

Overall pace is super slow. That's winter running for you. When you combine the darkness, the cold, and the footing, you probably add 15+ sec/mi. Right? At least that's what I'm telling myself. This would have been a 6:45-7min pace run in warmer weather.

Didn't really push the pace at all except heading up Cliff Ave at the end. Simply enjoyed a relaxed run in the dark on a foggy morning.

One cool thing was that the fog caused any bright light (street lamps, etc) to shoot a pillar of light straight up in the air. You saw a lot of these off in the distance throughout the run. At one point, as I came down the hill by Falls Parks, things were really open and I could see at least 50 off these pillars of light all over the place. It was eerie and cool all at the same time. Sometimes getting up well before dawn to go running in the cold and dark seems stupid. Sometimes, on days like today, you're reminded of why it's totally worth it. Who else got to see that?
