Notes

I was the only at NCC at 5:30. Not a big deal. Getting the run in isn't nearly as hard as getting out of bed and ready for the run. Once I'm at NCC it doesn't matter if there are 12 people or just myself, I'm going to get the run in. So I started out with Wacky Wednesday loop. The first 1.5 miles were pretty slow. The wind was in my face, my legs were tired (and cold!) and the sweepers were just getting out onto the riverwalk so there were still snowy patches. After I switched directions and started heading back towards Washington I felt a lot better and started picking up the pace. After making it back to campus I did another loop that is a lot like 4 lakes without going all the way out the 4 lakes (turn down Breckenridge right after Kennedy Junior High). At just about 9 miles I met up with the morning run group (good size group for interim!) and finished the next 19 minutes with them at a considerably easy pace.

Overall this was a really good run. Getting two days in a row over 10 will hopefully become less noteworthy as the weeks go on. Friday will be an easy recovery and Saturday will be 2 hours. This should be my best week in months.

Two other notes: I realized that last week's 2 hour run was my first deuce of 2k8. That's kind of embarrassing. Also, my 5k was my third fastest road 5k ever. That doesn't mean 16:41 is fast. It just means that I've never been much of a road 5ker. Actually, I was never much of an outdoor 5ker either. My outdoor PR is only like 15:50 and that was on my own, 2 days after a last chance meet steeple.
