Notes

Easy run on the flat grass today. Legs still tired and sore, but better today after a long foam roll last night. Was gonna do some striders at the end, but nature was calling and I had to get home. Had some explosive diarrhea once I did. What is the most difficult right now is going downhill any amount, because all of that elevation gain and rock climbing really did a number on my legs. That's what I need though- that strength. I'm about 7-8 weeks out from my marathon, and this is when I should be pounding my legs the hardest. It's too soon to the race to increase daily mileage without risking injury, so I'll just keep it at 40 minutes, and then increase duration and intensity for workouts and long runs. Plan right now is to do a 8 mile steady-state run on Wednesday (thinking around 6:30 pace to be conservative, but we'll see how the weather is) and then either Saturday or Sunday doing 19-20 miles on just the trail at Beaverdam Park, with energy gels rolling in hopefully this Friday. I ordered them from Crank Sports, and they have more sodium and potassium than GU or Clif, and with how much I sweat I figured it'd be good for me. With my trail marathon this summer closer to 28 miles and only water available at miles 11 and 20, with no aid stations, I NEED to start training with nutrition to get a feel for how my body handles it. Core/exercises afterwards.
