Notes
Will edit in placement, etc. when official results posted. EDIT: Official time is actually 5 seconds more: 1:05:41, so must be gun time. Maybe there isn't a chipped start? And of course they always claim it's 5 miles even...
Great fun, nice enough day (30s, mostly overcast). Wore C9 tights over NB compression shorts, short-sleeved tie-dyed bike jersey, warmer PI jacket, grey hat, white gloves (took off after first mile; also took off hat near end--overheated).
Ran with Kathleen for first 3 miles. Made good time, but lost her after mile 3--a big hill tired me out, and when we hit the flats again I just couldn't keep up. Tried to eat more this morning for breakfast, but still flagged last 2 miles. Is it from pushing too hard first 3 miles, or would a gel halfway have helped? Hard to tell, but hey, something to keep in mind. And still fastest time ever for Holliday Park, with I think even my "slower" last two miles faster than last year.
Not terribly muddy, except in a couple of places. There's more road than I tend to remember, but still an awesome race.
