Notes

50 at start, 57 or so at finish. Cool, anyway. First run over half-marathon distance--went well enough. Kept it easy at first, ramped up effort a bit in last few miles but at that point it did not really translate to greater speed.

Goal was to follow route for Indy Runners' nine-miler, out across bridge to underpass before turnoff to velodrome, but there was construction before bridge. Turned around, followed rest of canal path to end instead, realized I would still be short for 9-mile leg, so on way back did jog through woods (that's the 13:50 mile) which made it come out closer. Got to 9 miles just past 1.75 marker, turned around, did 3 more out and 3 back for 15 total.

Wore red capris, okay. Blue Mile shirt, Nathan pack--rubbed on arms just below sleeves. Was very careful to lube up shoulders and under bra strap at top of back, never thought of sides rubbing on arms. Live and learn. K3s were fine, still no blistering, although will probably lose 4th toenail on left foot (since after Evansville).

Took a liter of Nuun in pack, drank slightly less than half, although drank some just about every mile, and more when I took two gels at 5 and 11 miles. Could probably have used a 3rd gel. Brought a pack of pretzels, not realizing I couldn't get to them without taking pack off.

Pack was okay, apart from arm chafing. Felt weird at first, but quickly got used to it. Does slosh, but I think that can be diminished by squeezing air out before start.

Overall, encouraging. Not super fast, but that wasn't the point (and...well...still better pace than Evansville...). Next week will either do same again or increase to 16. Will see how it goes in between.
