Notes
-13F air temp, "feels like" -29F, light snow. Omigod cold. Hair frosted, face frosted, frost formed on legs, arms, shoulders, hat. I wanted at least 3 miles, preferably 4 to break an hour, ideally 5 to bring week above 20 even though I couldn't do long run today and missed an additional day yesterday. Had enough "cut back" weeks lately that were unintended--didn't need another.
Decided on bridge loops--if I got too cold, I'd never be more than about a mile from home. And decided to bag Maffing today, as running faster is warmer. And it is. Makes the lungs hurt more, though, so there's a natural limit that it's hard to go above without serious lung freeze. So ran first lap relatively conservatively to warm up, pushed it 2nd and 3rd laps, relaxed a bit 4th, deliberately slowed on 5th to cool down, then blew cool down by finishing last half mile fast. Felt good, though, legs quick and loose (more so than when I was pushing it in laps 2 and 3--either I was better warmed up now or the terrain was more conducive to it--last half mile was all on beach side, no hard lumpy snow to navigate).
Wore: CW-X under BR tights, Craft base layer top, Indy Runners shirt, Hincapie wool jacket, Hincapie kevlar vest, headband, yellow hat, white gloves.
