Ran the first mile too hard, but it was difficult to slow down without getting stuck behind someone. I let myself go down a hill in mile 2 a little quick also (about 6:00 pace), and by the end of mile 2, I was feeling pretty whipped. I just tried to keep my leg turnover going and managed about a 7:01 pace for most of mile 3, although my cadence was dropping steadily. I shaved off a few seconds on the down hill section at the end of mile 3 and tried to keep pushing for the last .12, but didn't have very much speed left. This was genuinely 100% effort. The only ways I could have improved are running the first mile slower and doing negative splits. Also, this course is quite a bit harder than my last PR, which was on a fairly flat course. So I consider it an improvement.

Not bad weather, about 67 with 85% humidity. 13 mph wind.

I probably won't do this race again, as it's very poorly organized and the logistics of parking are terrible in lower Greenville. Add to that 8000 runners who mostly just want to be there to be early for the drinking and it's not really worth the effort.
