I ran the half marathon in 2008 because I got injured in November while training for the full marathon. I trained for this race in two months after taking 6 weeks off. I wasn't expecting a lot, but I had a lofty goal of under 2 hours. However, training went REALLY well. The week before the race I ran 12 miles at a 8:35 pace so I was thinking I was going to do much better than I thought. Then race day came and it was hot and windy. It had been in the 30's every day during my training. It was 68 degrees at the start and got into the mid 70's by the time I finished. I got dehydrated because of the heat. The wind didn't help either. I ended up coming in under 2 hours, but that was after walking 4 or 5 times because my calf muscles started cramping. If it weren't for the heat, I probably would have done a lot better! I'm not disappointed, though because, I still got the goal I started with from the beginning.
