SECOND RUN portion of Shoreline Triathlon!! First Tri of the season!! They cancelled the swim due to lake conditions. 4' waves and high winds. So, the Tri was switched to a Run-Bike-Run. 2 miles / 16 miles / 2 miles.
The start of the second run was kind of rocky. I had some pretty good cramps in my left quad and my calves were pretty tight. I was fighting the noodle-leg effect pretty good and just trying to find my groove at the start. At about a half-mile in, after a slight down-hill section, I felt the "noodles" go away pretty quick. I just fought for a decent groove after that. The second half of this run was pretty tough though. I was tired. I pushed pretty hard to keep my pace fast, but I didn't have much left. I did try to sprint home a bit faster than I was running, just to eek out a few extra seconds. It was a good run, at the end after reviewing the times. I was surprised that I was able to hold a sub-8-minute mile pace for the second run. This bodes well for my conditioning and for future races.
