Today I wanted to push myself a little, but not too much and run a little bit faster. Today when I started off, I tried to step it up from my usual speed and it ended up not being fast enough, so I had to push a little harder. I am not used to this. I didn't know what to do when my HR was not as high as I wanted it to be. This is new. I ended up pushing the second mile a lot faster than the first and this ended up being just right. The third mile, as usual, was slower than the second, but I still had gas left in the tank, so I pushed the last mile real hard and drove my split time down into the 7's-per-mile range. This felt good, because it's been a while since I ran this fast.
