workout AVG HR 140
Another very easy run today. I am shooting for distance this week, not effort. I need to recover from the half-marathon but I would also like to make it a pretty long week. So, I started off this morning at a pretty slow plodding pace, and realized by the first mile that my HR was still well below 140. So I started to pick up the pace, and my HR didn't get up to 145 until WELL into the third mile. This actually was moderately ANNOYING. I was trying to go nice and easy, and my body is telling me to go faster. OK, I shouldn't complain. The result was that with the exception of the third mile, each mile was faster than the last. I am not sure what happened in the third mile, I think I just reacted to my HR finally hitting the target and I backed off too much. Both of my calf muscles were sore but they seemed to get better as I went through the run. The last mile I tried to kick it up a little bit and search for a little more length in my stride. It ended up being pretty quick and felt smooth and not terribly high effort. An excellent run today.
Sleep: good (bed at 10:30am, awake at about 5:45am)
Mood: groggy, but good
Physical: both calf muscles were sore, but progressively got better with stretching and throughout the run
Clothes: red RRS shorts, black New Balance long-sleeve shirt, red Fleet Feet hat (chilly to start, then perfect)
