Notes
RUN portion of the Fingerlakes Triathlon!! After a quite-speedy T2, I was off and running. I didn't like the fact that my bike split was so slow, so I was off and running with a little extra motivation (aka: ANGER). I wasn't taking any prisoners on this run. I knew it was pretty much dead flat and I knew that I still had some energy left for a decent run time. It was obvious that I didn't work as hard as I could have in the bike, because the noodle-leg syndrome of transition was not as evident as usual. I was tired and sore, but it was not the usual lead-weights for legs. The first mile was not bad at all, and I just powered through the worst of the transition to running. There were no mile markers or anything, so I just ran pretty much as hard as I could and hoped for the best. It was a two-lap 5K route, through the trails across the street from transition and then down Lakeshore Road down to the end of the pier and back. DEAD-FLAT is the truth. I pushed and pushed and pushed the whole way. At the end I was rewarded by looking at my watch and realizing I had never done a 10k race distance even CLOSE to this fast. I ended up running a 7:53min/mile pace overall. This is fantastic. It kind of made things feel a lot better after that not-so-good bike split. The only problem was due to the course being so dead-flat, everyone ran really fast. My placement was not very good for the run portion, but it never really is.
