Notes

While the minute per mile time looks pretty slow at a glance, this was one tough run. John and I spent the weekend in Guerneville for his birthday and we remembered the run we had done a couple times before out on Willow Creek Trail in Occidental. It was a bit of a drive but worth it; the trail is so beautiful.

John's legs weren't feeling great and so we went very slowly down the hill, running mostly 12-minute miles together. It is ALL downhill for the first 4-5 miles which makes the return trip pretty challenging. He told me to do my own thing on the way back so I decided to do intervals all the way back up. I ran 5 minutes hard, 2 minutes easy 6x and then I was about a half mile from the top. I turned back, run a half mile back down to find John and then hiked the final mile back to the top with him. Intervals were hard and pretty fast for uphill work. This was a terrific workout. I think I would drive all the way out to Occidental just to do it again!
