Had a great run with Tricia today in moraine view state park just outside Bloomington Illinois. I had done some research about good places to run in a few different parts of Illinois, and this one worked out quite well. We spent the first couple miles exploring the different hiking trails around the area: the timber point trail and the crystal bay trail. The trails were a combination of crushed rock that provided awesome footing and single track dirt trail completely covered in leaves. After about 3 miles we left the trails and did some pieces on the road, the large amounts of leaves on top of rapidly diminishing daylight suggested pavement was the best venue for some faster work.

3x 2min tempo into 30 seconds at 4k

Oh my dear goodness is Tricia ready to rock and roll. She totally killed me on these easy little tune up pieces. Her tempo is my XC race pace, or faster, and her 4k is my mile, no question. Woah baby is she going to kick some serious you know what on Saturday.

We spent the last few miles doing a little more exploring of the park. We witnessed a beautiful sunset and did strides by car headlight. Wildlife sightings: a family of 4 deer, including a large and very impressive buck, a red tailed hawk, and a fox.

Great work coach, on finding the venue, and keeping up with a national contender. Thanks a lot for the read - sounds awesome.
