Notes

Had a good night run tonight. I was lagging behind a bit after the first two miles with an 8:07 and then 8:09. I came back a bit stronger in the third mile with a 7:57 and was on pace for a repeat of 7:57 but I turned up the pace for a nice sprint over the last quarter of a mile. Overall I feel pretty good. I know you will always run a bit slower at night due to being more cautious about my footing and night time traffic. I think the only real good checkpoint I will have for my training will be at the Ithaca College Alumni Indoor Track Meet. I'm hoping I can run a solid Mile and 3K for the meet and give myself a new benchmark to use for training runs. I know I will need to train harder than this for a sub 3 hour marathon and certainly for the Sehgahunda Trail Marathon. I still haven't ruled out running Pittsburgh even though I have missed the deadline for early associate registration and get a discount on my entry fee. Although if I really wanted to focus on Sehghunda and look to being really competitive at that race then I should forget about Pittsburgh. Another race has caught my attention, the Cayuga Trails 50. I have no illusions of winning that race either but it would be nice to come close or really challenge the 50 mile mark again. It may end up being my alternative if the Mussel Man Half Ironman fills up before I can register. Lots to think about it seems but I know this will be one great year for me in terms of racing.
