Yeah baby, I'm back!!! Albeit slow, this run was amazing. It wasn't easy, it wasn't without effort, but it was wonderful. It feels good to back in the mind set of long runs & the ability to run them again. The weather couldn't have been better. Mid 60's, a bit breezy, a little rain here & there, overcast...custom ordered weather for a long run. Around 9 miles I was worried that I couldn't run the entire 18 I had planned. By 13 I decided I could probably make it. At 14 or so I stopped briefly at Brian & Rachel's for Anya to get a drink & me to eat half an orange. I started running again & felt amazing & positive I could finish. The 18 turned into 19, mostly because there was no shorter way to get back to my car, but I'm happy I did it. I ran farther than I planned & farther than I was sure I could & it helped me over the mental hurdle I've been struggling with the last few weeks. A cool shower & an ice bath when I returned & I really feel good. I'm not sore, I'm not miserable...I'm hungry but I still have energy.

It also gave me time to clear my head regarding the kids breaking the bathroom door. I'm cool & collected & handling this with a calm that is obviously terrifying to the kids! A bit sadistic perhaps, but I'm enjoying their terror over my handling of this too much to even want to discipline them more than the very long list of chores they have been given.

Wow, an amazing day, an amazing run! Yeah, I can do this running thing...
