Notes
I attempted to do a 90 seconds on/off starting with off.
Once I got on the gravel road section, I found it difficult to try to stick with the intervals. After a couple near twists of the ankle, I took it more cautious to get through the road section without any injury.
Even though it wasn't any super half marathon time, I gave a pretty decent effort. The heart rate was in the 160 range quite a bit, which is a decent effort without going at an all out race effort.
This half marathon went by faster than most I remember. I think the 90 seconds on/off had me just focusing on 90 seconds rather than keeping track of what mile I was on and how many miles I had to go.
Good decision to run in shorts and not tights and it was really perfect out there weather wise. On a flat course, I might have done really well today. Those hills are a killer when you don't do enough training on hills.
