Notes

Temperatures were really favorable for this race. I ran in the new Saucony shorts and singlet. It felt a bit cool the first half, but I was glad I wore the new outfit.

Felt some sore shins after 1 mile, most likely due to starting out at marathon pace with no warmup. I knew it would go away as this has happened before.

After about 8 miles, felt some soreness in the left upper hamstring. This felt sore most of the way after that, but I knew to just plug away.

With it being cool, I tried to start out keeping the miles around 8:00 or just under. I concentrated on one mile at a time the entire way, never trying to look ahead. Each mile was as important as the rest.

Felt pretty good when I hit the halfway mark at 1:44:12. I could feel myself going just a couple seconds faster now and kept it going. Felt a little tired on mile 19, but when I took the final GU at the 20 mile mark, that seemed to revive me. I didn't really try to speed up those last 6.2 miles, but the body seemed to just start moving faster, there were more crowds, and the adrenaline was more prevalent.

Even on mile 26, just kept pushing forward, one mile at a time.

Definitely fell sore afterwards, but pretty happy with the outcome.
