1st half: 44:30.54 (8:55)
2nd half: 41:45.46 (8:22)
I felt pretty good this morning, got a good night rest.
Took the advice that this race needed to be run in a negative split. Probably ran a little slower in the first half than I had planned, but didn't want to force it in the first half knowing I wanted to be faster in the second half.
Once I reached the top of the hill on the 6th mile, then cruise control took over and I felt pretty strong the rest of the way. With 1/2 mile to go, my body was sending me a signal that I would get sick at the finish line. Was able to give a pretty good spring the last couple hundred yards and yes, I did start to get sick.
Felt pretty good to do an 8:22 pace the second half and this was my fastest pace for any run of 10 miles or longer. So I take that as a sign that I am improving.
